Soldier Come Home is based on the letters of Frank W. Wicks’ great-grandparents,Mary Luke Pringle and Philip W. Pringle and family members, written during the period 1859 1865 from western Pennsylvania and from major Civil War battle sites.
In 1950,the long forgotten letters were discovered in a shoe box in the attic of the home of Wicks’ grandparents. Wicks’ father began transcribing the letters. After his father’s death he then began transforming the letters into a play, weaving the story of one family through the events of the Civil War.
Our rehearsed readings are informal affairs, so unlike our main shows there’s no need to reserve your seats in advance. Tea and coffee will be available but please feel free to bring your own refreshments.
